Do you want to work on a modern ship where your craftsmanship and ideas matter?
For the KG8, our innovative hybrid vessel, we are looking for a Skipper / Mate (SW6). We are looking for someone who wants more than just to sail the ship, but a true professional who takes responsibility, is keen to contribute ideas and wants to be part of a committed team.
At Seafarm, we operate on the principle that we do not fish as much as possible, but as intelligently as possible. We tailor our fishing operations to market demand and work with respect for nature, animals and the environment. That is why your working hours vary from period to period. This means that sometimes you’ll be fishing for around 35 hours a week, whilst at other times you’ll be at sea for four days. This creates a healthy work-life balance over the course of the year, with you receiving a fixed gross monthly salary as well as bonuses based on the weight of your catch.
What are you going to do?
As a team, the skipper, mate and deckhand are jointly responsible for carrying out fishing operations safely and efficiently. You contribute to daily operations, think along about improvements and are a vital link within the team. The work involves a number of fixed, recurring tasks. Therefore, we are looking for someone who finds fulfilment in craftsmanship, responsibility and teamwork.
What do we offer?
Working on the KG8
Our ship, the KG8, is a hybrid vessel. The KG8 is equipped with modern technology and good materials. This means safe and pleasant working. And there is room to continually improve working methods and processes.
With the KG8, Seafarm has made a conscious choice to adopt innovative fishing methods that respect both the product and the environment. The vessel and its unique harvesting technique for razor clams ensure less impact on the seabed, fewer breakages and less stress for the shellfish.
The ship plays a key role in Seafarm’s supply chain strategy. That is why we value your knowledge and experience. Good ideas are welcome and taken seriously. We believe that innovation starts with the people who are on board every day.
To be fair
Fishing cannot be entirely planned. Because we fish based on market demand, the planning can sometimes differ from traditional fishing.
With good fishing, you sometimes finish earlier and have more time at home. If circumstances are less favourable, or demand is higher, it sometimes requires extra effort. Over the course of the year, this provides a lot of continuity and a healthy work-life balance.
In addition, we fish on Sundays to have product on Monday to send to our customers in Europe. You have to be comfortable with that. On the flip side, you aren't away from home for weeks on end.
Who are we looking for?
You have a SW6 diploma and feel at home in a professional working environment where quality and collaboration are paramount. You are someone who:
Why Seafarm?
Because with us you do more than just sail. You will work on an innovative ship with good and modern equipment and in a professional team. We value your knowledge, listen to your ideas and together build an organisation that is ready for the future.
We're looking for someone for the long term. Someone who wants to become part of our team and build with us.
Do you recognise yourself in this?
Then we'd love to meet you. Call or text Dave Bout on 06 232 319 36, or send an email to dave@seafarm.nl.
Fancy working with fresh fish, oysters and shellfish in a unique location on the Oosterschelde? Come and cook at Seafarm in Kamperland.
For our kitchen team, we are looking for a chef de partie who loves beautiful products, quality and a kitchen that leaves room for personal input. There is scope to progress further within our kitchen team (in due course).
What are you going to do?
You will work in our spacious open kitchen and take independent responsibility for your own section. Together with the experienced kitchen team, you will prepare lunch and dinner and contribute ideas on dishes, the changing menu and how we can make things better every day.
You’ll be working with fresh fish, Seafarm oysters, shellfish and crustaceans, and our own razor clams, amongst other things. So this isn’t your typical catering kitchen, but a place where the produce really takes centre stage. And that’s appreciated: our guests rate Seafarm very highly, and the restaurant has been recognised by Gault & Millau. It’s a wonderful kitchen in which to further apply and develop your craftsmanship.
Haven't you worked much with fish and shellfish yet? No problem. Our experienced colleagues will gladly show you the ropes when it comes to the products and preparations.
This is what we offer you
Seafarm is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner.
Who are we looking for?
You have experience in a professional kitchen and can work independently in accordance with HACCP guidelines. But at least as important: you love good food, enjoy working with fresh produce and like creating something great together with colleagues.
