Praire

The warty venus (also called praire) has a rounded and convex shell with a diameter of 3 to 7 cm. This shell varies from creamy white to brown with strongly ribbed lines. The praire lives on or around rocky soils. The shell contains firm, creamy meat. The two valves are held together by a hinge, which ensures that the shell can open and close. It is a filter cleaner that feeds on plankton, which is absorbed by one of its siphons. With his other trap he expels waste again. The praire is dived by hand in Portugal, but they are also common in France, where they are fished with the hand strap.
